Win7 and WinXP shared settings two problems - shared printer and FTP

Today, a small LAN operating system
, Win7 and WinXP coexistence is already very common (just Like WinXP and Win98 have coexisted for a while). Then the resource sharing between Win7 and WinXP will take a lot of trouble. I have encountered two cases today. After checking a lot of information on the Internet, many of them are speech scams and cannot solve practical problems. After a careful search, I found two posts and solved my problem smoothly. Here, write a note to remember. It is also a reference for more people.

First, Win7 access WinXP shared printer

In many online posts, one is open GUEST account, one is by adding a network port printer. These two, I have tried, the previous one, does not work at all, Win7 can see the WinXP machine, but can not see its shared printer. The latter one, although the WinXP printer was added smoothly, but the printed files are all blank papers, and updating the printer driver has no effect.

Now I will paste the steps below for your reference

Win7 machine side:

1. Open the service and right click on my computer
or computer — management----services and applications, open the service or open it with WIN+R ---Enter services.msc Enter, open the service settings

Open the following services:

Server Workstation Computer Browser DHCP Client Remote Procedure Call Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator DNS Client Function Discovery Resource Publication UPnP Device Host SSDP Discovery TIP/IP NetBIOSHelper

2, Win7 and WinXP two machines to be in one

3, open network sharing and file sharing

Under "Change sharing options for different network profiles", select "Enable network discovery" and “ Enable file and printer sharing&

In the "Allow the program to pass Windows
Firewall Communication", check "Network Discovery" and "File and Printer Sharing". And "family/work (dedicated)" and "public" are checked

4, Win7 should enable Guest account

WinXP machine side:

1, first to enable "file and printer sharing"

Note: in the "local connection properties" under "Microsoft's network file and printer sharing" under the "protocol" agreement The "network monitor driver protocol" is also installed

2, start-run-services.msc- start “server service”. 3, Group Policy settings: Start menu run - secpol.msc - Security Settings - Local Policy User Rights Assignment - & ldquo; Refuse to access this computer from the network & rdquo; attributes, delete the "all user groups". The point is to delete the “Guest” account.

Security Options: Network Access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts, attribute to “deactivate”. Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares, attribute to “deactivate”. Network access: Local account sharing and security model, attribute changed to "Classic - local users authenticate with their own". 4, user management --- start guest user 5, restart WinXP computer.

After the author did the above method, Win7 successfully found the WinXP shared printer in the network share, double-click, follow the prompts to install the printer driver, and successfully set the network printer as the default printer. And can be used normally.

Second, Win7 does not close the FTP settings under the firewall

The FTP settings under Win7 introduced on the network, will come to the end, if you can not normally access, "Win7 firewall" ;shut down. It is true that after shutting down the Win7 firewall, the rest of the computers can access FTP normally. Once the Win7 firewall is turned on, FTP cannot be accessed normally.

The problem is at the firewall.

In the general article, in the "Allow program to communicate through Windows Firewall" check "FTP server", you can make FTP through the firewall. However, after actual use, this is not acceptable.

It is in the "Allow the program to communicate through Windows Firewall", not only to check "FTP server", but also to add "ldt;inetinfo.exe”".

First find this file

Through the author's local search, there are two locations on the machine, respectively

C:\\Windows\\winsxs\\x86_microsoft- Windows-iis-metabase_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_39084df88346b717\\inetinfo.exe

C:\\Windows\\winsxs\\x86_microsoft-windows-iis-metabase_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_3b3961c080353ab1\\inetinfo.exe

at “ Allow the program to communicate through the Windows Firewall. Click on the "Allow another program to be run". Click on "Browse" to find the two programs above, and click "Open".

You will find <;Internet Information Services" in the "Allowed Programs and Features" >

After the above operation, after turning on the Win7 firewall, other machines can access FTP normally. In fact, Win7 FTP is a sub-function under IIS, so you must also make IIS through the firewall.

The above two questions are positive solutions that have been found in many web pages and have been verified and feasible. Write a note to remember.
