1, Win2000 and Win9x/WinMe
Since the kernel used by Win2000 is different from the previous Win9x/WinMe, it cannot be upgraded, but Win2000 provides a good dual-system coexistence function. If you want to delete one system separately and save another system, it is not so simple. The following will be introduced separately.
1.Deleting Win2000 in multiple systems
Prepare a Win98 boot disk and execute the following commands.
fdisk/mbr Rewrites the main boot area of the hard disk.
sys C: Transfer Win98 system files.
deltree C:\\WINNT Delete the directory file directory of Win2000.
deltree C:\\boot*.* Delete all files starting with boot. Here are the files for the multi-system boot menu.
deltree C:\ t*.*? Delete all files starting with nt.
deltree C:\\hiberfil.sys Delete the system settings save file.
deltree C:\\pagefile.sys Delete the page file.
After completing the above operation, you can delete Win2000.
2.Deleting Win9x in multiple systems
First of all, you must confirm that you are starting Win2000 by default but not Win9x. If it is Win9x, you need to modify its startup sequence. Under Win2000, click "My Computer", open the "Properties" in the right-click menu, select "Advanced" in the "System Features", click the "Startup and Recovery" button. The startup sequence can be modified in the next window, and the startup time can also be modified. You can change the boot time to 0 so that the boot menu option does not appear at startup, but instead starts Win2000 directly.
Then delete the Win9x system directory, including the Windows and Program Files directories. If you are putting Win9x and Win2000 on the same partition, just delete the Windows directory, because in this case the Program Files directory is common in Win2000 and Win9x. Then remove the Win9x boot files, including io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com, autoexec.bat, and config.sys.
After completing the above operations, you have restored the Win2000 single system. This method is also tried for WinME and Win2000 dual systems.
It is relatively simple to uninstall Windows under single system and upgrade system, but it is relatively complicated to delete in a system under multiple systems. Therefore, for a system with multiple systems, it is best to back up important files and use them after recovery.
2, XP and ME
Q: My computer is installed with Windows Me and Windows XP dual system, I want to uninstall the Windows XP system of D disk, how to uninstall? Is the formatted D drive?
A: Simple formatting of the D drive does not completely uninstall Windows XP. To completely uninstall Windows XP, you can directly delete the Windows on the D drive (the directory where you installed Windows XP), the Program Files and the Documents and Settings folder (make sure that the D drive is in FAT32 format, otherwise Windows Me cannot be accessed and must be converted to FAT32 format), then delete the following files into the C drive: ntldr, ntdetect.com, boot.ini, ntbootdd.sys (if you have SCSI devices) and bootfont.bin, and finally boot the computer with the Windows Me boot CD, execute the command :a:/sys c: You can completely uninstall Windows XP.
