Why do black screens and solutions when starting Windows 7

  

When you start Windows 7, there is a black screen, and the video adapter issue is the most common cause of this. Try the following troubleshooting procedures in order. If the steps in the first procedure do not resolve the issue, perform the next procedure.

to re-install the video drivers

1 Right-click the taskbar, then click the & ldquo;. Start Task Manager & rdquo ;.

2. Click the <;process” tab, click “msnmsgr.exe”, then click “End Process”.

3. Click on “File” and then click “New Task (Run)”.

4. Enter “explorer.exe” in the "Open” text box, then click “OK”.

5. Click the “Start” button, type “Device Manager” in the search box, and then click “Device Manager” in the results list.

6. Double-click on the “Display Adapter” button, right-click on the display device, click “Update Driver Software” and follow the steps in the wizard that appears.

Note: After reinstalling the driver, you may need to restart your computer again to complete the installation. It may also be necessary to adjust the screen resolution to the previous setting.

If these steps resolve the issue, the troubleshooting task has been completed. Otherwise, proceed to the next set of steps.

Checking the Registry Issues

1. Right-click on the taskbar and click “Start Task Manager”.

2. Click the <;process” tab, click “msnmsgr.exe”, then click “End Process”.

3. Click on “File”, then click “New Task (Run)”, enter “explorer.exe” in the “Open” text box, then click &ldquo ;OK”.

4. Click the "Start” button, type “regedit” in the search box, and then click “regedit.exe” in the results list.

5. Browse to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon

6.Click to select the WinLogon item, then click Shell in the right pane . The shell value in the data column should be explorer.exe. If the shell value is not explorer.exe, double-click the shell and type explorer.exe in the Value data field, then click “OK”.

7. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

If these steps resolve the issue, the troubleshooting task has been completed. Otherwise, proceed to the next set of steps.

Starting the computer in Safe Mode and running System Restore

1. Click the arrow next to “Start” button, “Shutdown", then click “Restart ”.

2. Do one of the following:

If your computer has only one operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key while the computer is restarting. You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again by waiting for the Windows logon prompt to appear and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

If your computer has multiple operating systems installed, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in Safe mode and press F8.

3. On the “Advanced Boot Options" screen, use the arrow keys to highlight “Safe Mode” and press Enter.

4. Log in to the computer with a user account that has administrator privileges. When the computer is in safe mode, you can see the words “Safe Mode” displayed in the corners of the monitor.

5. Click the “Start” button, type “system restore" in the search box, then click “system restore" and "next". If prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

6. When the computer works as expected, select a restore point, click “Next”, then click “Complete”.

7. Restart your computer normally.

If these steps resolve the issue, the troubleshooting task has been completed. Otherwise, try repeating these steps. If possible, choose an earlier restore point. If you still can't solve the problem, contact your computer manufacturer or technical support for further assistance.
