Typically, family groups are automatically created when you set up a computer running this version of Windows, but you are prevented from creating a home group if:

A home group already exists on the network. If a family group already exists, you will be asked to join the family group.

Family groups are available for all versions of Windows 7. In Windows 7 Starter Edition and Windows 7 Home Basic, you can join a family group, but you cannot create a family group.

You may not be connected to the network. To connect to a wireless network, perform the following steps:
