Win8 Beta can be run directly in the U disk. Screenshot exposure

Microsoft demonstrated many of the features of Windows 8 at the BUILD conference earlier this year, and Windows To Go believes many people still remember. With this feature, users can run Windows 8 with enterprise applications, data and settings on a USB storage device such as a USB stick.

In fact, Windows To Go is one of several versions of the Windows 8 Developer Preview that leaked before it was called Portable Workspace. Unfortunately, we did not see Windows To Go in the Windows 8 Developer Preview.

According to WinUnleaked, this feature will be re-entered in Windows 8 Beta, which is already in use in the pre-beta version currently under development. In the desktop control panel, users can create a Windows To Go workspace:

In return, Microsoft introduced and demonstrated the Windows To Go feature at the BUILD conference. The main features are as follows:

— USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 storage devices are supported, 32GB recommended;

— Windows 8 will start from Windows To Go drive by default, as long as it is recognized;

— some drivers will Default bundle, if not, download driver via Windows Update;

— Windows To Go cannot sleep;

— Windows To Go supports BIOS and UEFI firmware;

— Windows To Go also has Crash (crash) and Dump (dump);

The Windows To Go function also involves the removal of the device by Windows 8 at runtime: once unplugged, the system locks for 60 seconds. Wait until the user re-plugs the USB device; if it fails to insert within 60 seconds, the system will “shut down”.
