Microsoft offers Win8 Developer Preview

for MSDNAA

The Windows 8 Developer Preview is available to testers in September, and Microsoft continues to work to make Windows 8 more accessible to users worldwide. Microsoft today announced that the Windows 8 Developer Preview is available to the MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA), which means that all MSDNAA institutions can offer Windows 8 Build 8102 to their students for testing.

Microsoft UK academic extension staff Lee Stott announced the news on the MSDN blog: "Seven Sinofsky, director of Windows and Windows Live, recently demonstrated the Windows 8 touch-optimized interface and many new features. Go to the Windows Developer Center to see more about Windows 8, where you can find Windows Developer Preview guides, code samples, forums, documentation, and more. If you are a MSDNAA member (query), then you can provide Windows 8 for free for your students. & rdquo;

The Windows 8 Developer Preview is available in several versions: Windows 8 Developer Preview (English) with pre-installed developer tools, 64-bit Windows 8 Developer Preview (English), 32-bit Windows 8 Developer Preview (English).

Windows Developer Center and MSDN both provide downloads of the Windows 8 Developer Preview. In addition, MSDN also provides a Windows Server 8 Developer Preview.

Now that Windows DNA Developer Preview is available for MSDNAA, Microsoft hopes that these institutions will offer students the opportunity to experience Windows 8.
