Windows 8 Metro app is only available through the Microsoft App Store

According to foreign media reports, Microsoft said at the BUILD meeting last week that the Metro application on the Windows 8 platform is only sold through the company's app store. Although Microsoft said it would not discuss its app store business issues —— including developer share, but a material released by Microsoft shows that, like Apple, Microsoft's share of application sales is 30% .

Microsoft confirmed last week that the Windows Store will be the only distribution channel for Metro apps. Ted Dworkin, the head of Microsoft's Windows Store development team, said at a BUILD conference last Wednesday that Microsoft has restricted the Metro app distribution channel to ensure that applications are secure and appropriate.

This means that Microsoft will follow Apple's model, not Google's model. Apple only allows iOS apps to be published through its App Store app store; although Google has an Android Market app store, it allows Android apps to be published via other means.

Dworkin also said that Microsoft will test every application submitted to ensure that the Metro application does not contain malicious components. Google has been forced to remove dozens of Android apps containing malware from the Android Market this year.

Dworkin did not disclose the business model of Microsoft Windows Store, "We will not discuss the specific policy and commercial terms of the Windows Store today, and will disclose it later. & rdquo;

The Windows Store will also offer non-Metro apps, which is a major difference from the App Store.

Antoine LeBlond, vice president of Microsoft Web Services Group, said that for desktop applications in the Windows Store, the company won't get a share of software sales.
