Microsoft plans to cancel the full retail version of Windows 8

Computer shop news July 13th news, according to foreign media reports, Microsoft intends to cancel the full retail version of Windows 8, replaced by the OEM version of the simple upgrade and System Builder options for home users.

Generally, Microsoft will provide an upgraded version, a full version, and an OEM System Builder version when it sells Windows system software. However, Windows Weekly's hosts Paul Thurrott and Mary & Middot; Mary Jo Foley revealed on the 13th that Microsoft may cancel the full version and recommend System Builder to home users.

In the past, if home users wanted to install the full version of Windows, either buy an expensive boxed version or choose a relatively cheap OEM version. The OEM version is for system architects and is usually sold with hardware, but can also be purchased separately at the retailer.

The full boxed version provides 90 days of email and phone support since activation, while the OEM version does not include this service. Turreit and Foley predict that Microsoft will no longer release the full version of Windows 8, but only provide OEM versions of the System Builder option for newly assembled computers.

This not only changes the way Microsoft sells Windows systems, but it also simplifies the process of users buying their software online or at retail stores.

Earlier this month, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that the System Builder version will be available, and users of the Mac system will be able to install the Windows 8 system in this way.

In the near future, users of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 will be able to upgrade their current system to the Windows 8 Pro version for only $39.99.

If the rumors are not false, Windows 8 Upgrade and System Builder will be available at the end of October. If the price of the Windows 8 System Builder version is similar to the previous Windows 7 OEM version, this is definitely good news for consumers.
