Microsoft pushes Windows 8 trial version Windows adds new features

On Tuesday at Microsoft's annual Build conference in Anaheim, California, Microsoft officially introduced Windows 8 to thousands of software developers.

Microsoft says it has redesigned the image of Windows for a changing computing world. Windows 8 has a new visual interface optimized for touchscreens on mobile devices such as tablets.

Microsoft's Windows 8 on Tuesday is a "preview" for developers to try. It didn't work perfectly in Microsoft's demo. However, software usually has a lot of flaws in the early stages of development.

The first page of Windows 8 that users open is a bit like the home page of the Bing search engine. A large photo occupies most of the screen, and the icons inside show how many emails, messages, and notifications the user has pending.

After the user logs in, the user sees a start page with interactive tiled display windows that can be launched with a finger or mouse. Unlike most tablets on the market today, Windows 8 can launch applications side-by-side. This means that users can run multiple tasks such as movies and instant messages.

Microsoft has not disclosed the release date of Windows 8. However, Microsoft hinted that this new operating system will be launched in 2012.
