Demystifying the Windows 8 Hidden Gadget

In the known Win8 development system, there are many completely different designs, such as the Metro UI like WP7, the built-in PDF reader capable of reading PDF, and running on the browser. WebCam and the new built-in desktop split screen and more. However, since the current version of Win8 is still relatively primitive, the functions of each module are not powerful enough, so most of these functions are scattered in the Win8 system directory as files. However, if you don't look at it, it will always make people feel uncomfortable. Let's experience the mysterious tools together with the author. First, the screen split screen split screen software everyone knows, can help us quickly achieve multi-desktop operations like Android, especially in the busy White Collar circle. In Win8 Pre-M3 7955, I found that a small file named "Desktops.exe" was hidden under the C:Sysint folder. After the trial, I found out that this is actually a split-screen widget built into Microsoft. After double-clicking the file, a license agreement will pop up first. After confirming, the shortcut key setting box will be opened. Here we can set the virtual desktop switch key and whether to boot and other options. From the interface point of view, the developer of this gadget is Sysinternals.com, don't think that this is a small company running the river, its predecessor is the famous Winternals, but was acquired by Microsoft after 2006. Obviously from this point of view, Win8's future integrated screen split screen is still very likely. The function of the software is very simple, there is almost no special design, we can switch to any desktop at any time with the help of shortcut keys, and each desktop has a certain personalized saving function, such as personalized wallpaper, exclusive task bar, etc. . However, the desktop icon is still shared, which is a gap compared to other professional tools. In addition to the shortcut keys, we can also switch the desktop by clicking the software icon in the system tray. The difference is that this method will pop up a preview pane and complete the switch by clicking on the thumbnail with the mouse. Second, PDF reader and split screen software, PDF reader is also a small file located under C: Program FilesMcrosoftWindows.glcnd, named "ldcnd.exe". However, the interface after double-clicking may be disappointing, because there is not even an icon or button in addition to the top "PDF". To bring up the full interface, you need to combine the keys Ctrl+Shift+F9 and then open a PDF file with Ctrl+O. At this point you will find that the reader has started to make some small changes. The first is the position bar that pops up on the far right. It can list the page number of the entire document here, and it can also indicate the current location through a slider. Followed by the quick return button in the upper left corner, its role is more simple, is to bring the user directly back to the last position. In addition, this built-in PDF reader hides some small commands. For example, you can use Ctrl+1/2/0 to switch between the three display scales, the actual display size/suitable width/fit height, the rotation display of the document by Ctrl+R, and the quick print by Ctrl+P. Wait. In short, the only one that does not match the leaked map is that I have not found the option to display multiple pages side by side. 3. Metro Browser Many people know that Win8 adopts the new Metro interface, but so far, what is really in front of everyone is just the system settings box after entering the M3 version. In fact, inside the Win8 Pre-M3, there is also a browser preview version that uses the Metro interface. In fact, this has been seen by some netizens as a prelude to IE10! The browser is also provided as a file, located at C: Program FilesMicrosoftImmersive BrowserMicrosoft.ImmersiveBrowser, the file name is miexplore.exe. After double-clicking the file, you will find that there is no prompt on the desktop. In fact, you need to press the key combination Ctrl+Shift+F9. Since it's just a preview version, the entire browser has very few features, and even moving the form position doesn't work. You can see that the toolbar is very similar to IE9, retaining the "forward", "<;back", "refresh" "refresh”,"address bar","collection" Live detachment is a replica of WP7, which also confirms the rumors that Win8 will fully adopt Metro UI. The change of the address bar is more eye-catching, almost transplanting the block UI of WP7, and the function is no different from the traditional address bar. However, the author believes that although such an interface is very suitable for touch, it obviously does not help the mouse operation, and the oversized button actually limits the development of the new IE (such as the smart address bar), which is probably still Need Microsoft to make another trade-off. As for the other places, the author has simply tested it, but unfortunately there are so few functions that can be used so far that we can't cut out a decent picture. You can see that the right-click menu still maintains the old version. In other words, if the browser wants to really show people, I am afraid we still need to wait for a short day. Fourth, WebCamWebCam is generally referred to as a webcam in English, but Win8's WebCam can be seen as a webcam software that can run in a browser. However, given the current preview identity, we still can only experience it as a file first. Like several other modules, WebCam is also a file located under C:WindowsSystem32. It can be run by double-clicking, but a simpler method is to type ““Webcam” directly in the search bar of the start menu. As with several other modules, we still need the key combination Ctrl+Shift+F9 to start the WebCam. The interface design seems to be different from the previous leaked version, and overall it is still remarkable. On the right side of the interface, you can see that WebCam provides 3 functions, “Record”, “Record” and “Timed Photo”. Among them, “video” and “timed photo” are all 3 seconds pre-wait, and can be previewed immediately after stopping.

At the top of the interface are "Application Settings" and "Webcam Settings", as the name suggests, WebCam program settings (such as audio source, video resolution, frame rate, etc.) and camera Property settings (such as brightness, magnification, sharpening, anti-flicker, etc.). Of course, due to the lack of some new features, this WebCam is obviously not as interesting as other features.
