Win8 file history backup function graphic detailed explanation

Precious pictures and precious memories left behind cannot be lost. How do you choose when you save this content? Save the file to a USB flash drive or a mobile hard drive? Still choose emerging cloud storage? It seems that these methods are perfect, but what if it is some important file? If you make changes, you have made a backup, but after that, you feel that it is worse than the original. What should I do at this time? How to find the previous historical version?
In fact, Windows 8 built-in file history can help us with this. File history not only allows you to quickly back up your files, but also saves different versions for easy searching.
Let's get started~
First we open the control panel:

Select system and security:

Click on file history:

File history defaults to Closed, the first time you want to select the drive, you can choose external (U disk, mobile hard disk), network location and so on. Let's take the U disk as an example:
Select the drive:

Insert the U disk, select and confirm it.
You can click Enable now:

After clicking Enable, you can see that this function has been enabled. You can also see where the file location is related to it: only the library, desktop, Contacts and Favorites:

If you want to save a file backup, you can create a new folder, then select the right button and select it to include in the library.

This library, desktop, contacts and favorites will be saved. If you don't want to back up, you can select the exclude folder in the left panel:

Select the Add button on the page to add :

The first backup will be slower, after that, it will be fine~ Look, it has been backed up.

After the U disk you can see these backup files:

If you want to restore the file, select the restore personal file in the left panel:

you can see all History is recorded.

We can see an interface that can be selected from left to right. Every time we change the files in the library, the system will automatically update the data in the default time frequency, 2/2 means I am on the file. Two changes were made and each time the data was saved; if we wanted to restore any of the data, clicking the green button will restore the file at that time.
If a large number of files in the data have not been changed, the system will skip this part, thinking that it takes a lot of time to complete the recovery, skipping these items, and quickly completed.
In the advanced settings, you can change the frequency of saving files in the system. The default is one hour. Of course, if we need to update now, we can also update it manually. You can also change the size of the offline cache, the saved version, and select the default settings.

With the above settings, you can find the file records for different time periods. When we need it, we can choose to recover from a certain time period, which is very simple. How about, this feature is very good, don't hurry up? !
