Use Win8 Bitlocker driver to set the password for U disk

Windows 8 gives us an answer —— uses Bitlocker drive encryption. What is Bitlocker Drive Encryption? It is a built-in system encryption method that uses a string of characters as credentials to ensure that your mobile storage facility can leak data without loss. In Windows 8, this feature has a better experience than the previous version. Let's take a look at how to encrypt our USB flash drive using Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

First, we press Win logo key + W, enter the drive encryption in the pop-up search box, click on the search results, as shown below:

Click to pop up a new window, as shown below:

The G drive is the drive letter of the U drive that we want to encrypt. We click the submenu button on the right to open the following submenu:

Click to enable Bitlocker and a new window will pop up. Wait for the initialization process to end:

After the initialization is complete, we will see the window for encryption mode selection. Here we choose to use the password credentials to unlock the drive. Here we can enter a custom password for encryption:

After unlocking the drive by checking the password, after entering the customized password, we will see the backup settings for the recovery key:

The recovery key is to ensure that we use one when losing the certificate (password or smart card) String characters to unlock the encrypted drive. This recovery key can be saved in our win8 Microsoft account, can be saved as a TXT file, and can be printed directly. It's worth noting that this is the way to save to a Microsoft account. Note that if you have a domain account, you don't have this option. After the item is selected, we can save it as a TXT file again, or print it directly. After the backup is completed, click Next.

Then we choose whether to encrypt only the used parts or encrypt the whole disk. Here Windows

8 has explained the two options very clearly, we choose one according to our own needs. The new feature that only encrypts the used part is Windows

8 can make the encryption process much faster:

After selecting the next step, the following window pops up to confirm the encryption:

It should be noted that during the encryption process, if there is no click pause, you must not unplug or delete the drive, otherwise the files in the drive will be damaged. In order to ensure that the encryption is not cracked, it takes a long time to encrypt, so as the size of the encrypted portion is required, the encryption time will be lengthened to varying degrees, and it takes a while.

After the encryption is successful, we will see the following window:

Next we unplug the drive and plug it in, view the drive, double-click the drive, we can see:

Here we can enter the password to unlock and use it correctly. If we forget the password, it doesn't matter. Click the More option, click Enter Recovery Key, and enter the key we backed up.

If we need to turn off Bitlocker, after unlocking the encrypted drive, we open the search (Win+W) input drive encryption, you can see the following, just click on the settings we need to make.
