Win8 sales in the early stage of the listing is not optimistic

Beijing time on the morning of November 18, well-known Windows system expert Paul · Paul Thurrott wrote this week on the Supersite For Windows website, the initial sales of Win8 PC is lower than Microsoft's expectations, Microsoft The inside has expressed disappointment.

According to the source, the poor sales of Windows 8 PCs is due to the fact that PC manufacturers have not fully introduced products using this operating system, and the products that have been launched have no bright spots in design. Tellot believes that there are deeper reasons behind the poor sales, such as Windows 8 itself is confusing, this operating system mixes the touch interface and the standard Win7 desktop interface.

In addition, Microsoft's practice of simultaneously launching Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT is also problematic. Windows 8 Pro can support previous Windows software, but Windows RT does not. It is not reasonable for Microsoft to do so.

EndPoint Technologies analyst Roger · Roger Kay agrees. He pointed out: "The difference between Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT makes Windows 8 positioning difficult. The new touch interface is ideal for high-end mobile device markets such as tablets. But Microsoft can't succeed with just a few tablets. ”

However, Microsoft did not agree with this statement in its public statement. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who attended the Churchill Club event in Santa Clara, Calif., said this week that sales of Windows 8 were in good shape. At the Microsoft Build conference last month, Ballmer also said that after a few days of Windows 8 release on October 26, Microsoft sold 4 million copies.

However, other reports show that consumers don't seem to have much interest in upgrading to Windows 8. In the history of Microsoft, the lack of user interest in the new version of Windows is a common phenomenon. But this time, the barriers affecting user upgrades may be even greater, because Windows 8 is centered on the touch interface, which is not suitable for enterprise users.

Windows 8 brings innovative cross-border design, and Windows 8 products such as the HP Envy x2 and the Acer Aspire S7 are also eye-catching. But if consumers and businesses are expected to fully embrace the new system, then Microsoft will need to spend more time. Kay pointed out that it will take several months for retail stores to fully switch to Windows 8 PCs, so it is expected that the full distribution of Windows 8 PCs in the retail channel will wait until January next year.

On the other hand, the sales of Microsoft Surface tablets are in good condition. The 32GB version was out of stock after about a week of release.
