Master recovery win2003 domain controller has a recipe

After many people have installed the system, there is a good backup system, which can make the Windows Server 2003 domain controller recover from the disaster, which is undoubtedly very good. But if the situation doesn't get better, but it gets worse, what should I do? Maybe you are facing system failure —— for example, the domain controller (DC) can't be started, what should you do now? Yes, No doubt you can reformat and reinstall. So, is there any way you can handle this problem more quickly? Xiaobian thinks you have to be prepared in advance.

ASR

I certainly know that you all have enough knowledge about the recovery console, so I won’t say more here. Instead, I will concentrate on the other two substantial help to try to recover from a system failure: an automated system recovery (ASR) disk with a boot floppy. Because when we are recovering from a system failure, we are racing against the clock, and I will introduce an easy way to back up and restore all Windows drivers, which can speed up the work process to a considerable extent.

ASR (basically) in the era of NT servers, we are called Emergency Repair Disk (ERD), (I said basically because the registry information is not included in the ASR like ERD)

Creating an ASR is very simple:

1. Start the backup program and select the option to run Automated System Recovery (Figure 1).
Figure 1 Automatic System Recovery

2. As you will see, backing up system data is part of the process. Specify the location where the backup will be stored. (The space of a floppy disk is not enough, so pay attention to choose other kinds of storage media.)

3. When you see the screen shown in Figure 2, click Finish. The system data backup process will begin and a recovery disk will be created at the end of the process. (For this process, you will need to prepare a floppy disk to make the recovery disk.)

The ASR disk is not a boot disk. The floppy disk contains the system information file (.sif file) required for system installation. ASR is used for system configuration recovery during the Windows installation process. In order to complete an automatic system recovery, you need to use your Windows Server 2003 installation disk to start the Windows installation. During the installation process, you will be prompted to press “F2” to perform an ASR. Tip: How often do you need to create an ASR disk? The simple answer is whenever your system settings change, or when your system has just recovered.

Note: Be careful that ASR uses an unauthorized way to recover system data. On a domain controller, you will have to use the command line software NTDSUTIL to perform an authorization recovery for the domain. Previous12Next page Total 2 pages
