Windows 2003 set up mail server Daquan

The process of setting up a mail server in Windows 2003 is similar to that of the XP system. It can be built with the POP3 and SMTP services that come with the system, or it can be implemented with third-party software. The applicable environment is different in the way it is naturally adopted. The following author's construction process takes these two methods as examples.

I. Using Windows2003 to bring POP3/SMTP service to achieve

Windows 2003 set up mail server Step 1: Install these two services.

By default, windows2003 is not installed, we must add it manually. The POP3 service component is under the "add/delete windows component — email service", which includes two contents: POP3 service and POP3 service WEB management; and SMTP service should select "application server-internet information service" in turn. -SMTP service” to install, if you need to remotely manage the mail server, you also need to select "Remote Management (HTML)" in the "World Wide Web Service".

Windows 2003 set up a mail server Step 2: Configure the POP3 service.

Click “Start-Manage Tools-POP3 Service", open the “POP3 Service” main window; then click on the host name (this machine) under the POP3 service on the left side of the window, and then on the right Select "New Domain"; in the pop-up "Add Domain" dialog box, enter the host name of the mail server to be created, that is, the part behind @, OK.

Then create a mailbox. Click on the domain name just created on the left, select "New Mailbox", enter the mailbox name (that is, @前部分) in the pop-up dialog box, and set the mailbox password, and finally set the following picture.

Windows 2003 Step up mail server: SMTP service configuration.

Open “ Start - Programs - Administrative Tools - Internet Information Service & rdquo;, right click on the left side of the window, SMTP virtual server, right click on the property, under the "General" tab ; IP address & rdquo; drop-down list box to select the IP address of this mail server, and you can set the maximum number of connections allowed, and finally determine. As shown below:

After the above three steps, simply a function of the mail server setup is completed, we can connect with the mail client software to the server send and receive mail app.

II. Using third-party software Winmail Server to build

Winmail is a secure and easy-to-use full-featured mail server software, which can be used as a LAN mail server, Internet mail server, or as a Mail server and mail gateway for dial-up ISDN, ADSL broadband, FTTB, CableModem, etc.

Software size: 12899KB

Download address: http://www1.magicwinmail.com/download/winmail.exe.

I. Initialization configuration process:

After the installation is complete, we must also perform some initialization settings on the mail system, the system can run normally, the steps are as follows:

1. Fast Setup Wizard. As shown in the figure below, first enter the email address and password to be newly created, and then click “Settings”. The setup wizard will automatically find out if there is a mailbox and domain name to be built in the system database, and also test POP3, SMTP, Whether the HTTP and ADMIN servers are successfully started; the test information and configuration information about the mail client are displayed in the "Settings Results" box, and the WEB management address is also given.

2. Use configuration management tools.

Once the Quick Guide is complete, you can start the mail system detection and test the mail.

Step 1: Under “Start & rdquo;-“Program”-“Magic winmail”, find “Magic winmail management tool” and open.

Step 2: Check if the mail system is working properly.

When the management tool starts, you will be prompted to log in to the mail server with the default username admin and the password you set during installation. After logging in, please use “System Settings”-“System Services” To see if services such as ADMIN, SMTP, POP3, and IMAP are working properly. A green light indicates that the service is running successfully, and a red light indicates a problem with the service (as shown below).

Note: If the red light appears some services are generally caused because the port is occupied, turn off or change this program or port and then restart the service.

The third step: domain name settings and mailbox management.

Select "Domain Name Settings" on the left side of the window, switch to the "Domain Name Management" window; then click "Add New" to create a new domain name; as shown below, enter you in the Domain Name box. After you want to create a mailbox domain name and add a description, you should also set the overall control settings for this mail server. For example, in the Advanced Attributes tab, you can set some functions that the user is allowed to register for a new mailbox through WEB, set a mailbox to be masked under the Mailbox Default Permissions tab, and so on.

The fourth step: increase the mailbox.

It is to add new mailbox users and create new mailboxes so that the service system can be put into use. On the left side of the "Users and Groups"---"User Management" option, create users and mailboxes, and set the relevant parameters (as shown below); of course, this step can also be used to allow remote users through WEB. Register yourself.

3. Mail use the test.

After all the above settings are completed, you can test the service on the machine first. One test method is to use a common mail client software such as Outlook Express, etc., just note that "send mail server (SMTP)" should fill in the IP address or host name of the mail server just set, and "receive" The mail server (POP3)” should be filled in in the user management settings.

Another convenient way is to register and send and receive new emails via WEB. The login address will be prompted in the “Settings Result” box under the “Quick Setup Wizard” panel in the previous step (in this example: http://10.0.0.1:6080/), the WEB login interface is as shown below. .

user name and password

Enter just created to start online send and receive mail; at the same time can register online at the login screen in the new mailbox. The following figure we should be very familiar with it! This is the WEB mail interface of this software, well, we can hands!
