How to enable 802.1x network authentication in Windows8 network

802.1X authentication helps to enhance the security of 802.11 wireless networks and wired Ethernet networks by requiring certificates or smart cards for network access. This type of authentication is typically used for workplace connections.

Operation steps

1. In the Metro interface, click the “Desktop” icon. As shown below:

2, find the <quo;computer” on the desktop icon and click the right mouse button, select “Manage” in the pop-up menu. As shown below:

3, in the pop-up window, click on the left side of "Services", find and start on the right side "Wired Autocnfig" and "WLAN" Autoconfig” As shown below:

4. Close the computer management window, right click on the network adapter icon on the tray on the right side of the taskbar and select “Open Network Share Center”. As shown below:

5. In the pop-up window, click the “Change Adapter Settings” option on the left. As shown below:

6. Right-click on the wired Ethernet connection icon and select “Properties" in the menu. As shown below:

7. Check "Enable IEEE 802.1x" in Authentication. As shown in the following figure:
