How to convert Windows file system from FAT to NTFS format

Since Windows
has NTFS file system since NT/2000/XP, the previous Windows
OS
has only FAT file system. The benefits of the NFTS file system are the following: file system with error warning, more efficient file read speed, disk self-healing, and event logging for "disaster prevention/disaster". So now we need to convert the FAT file system into the NFTS file system, as follows:

Click “Start”Menu→“Run“→cmd, open a command prompt window, then Enter the convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs (If the conversion is not successful, you may be prompted to run the disk repair command CHKDSK /F, follow the prompts to run the disk repair command, and then perform NTFS conversion.). For example:

convert D: /fs:ntfs

Important note: 1 Converting from FAT to NTFS format will not affect the original data on the disk; 2 once a drive or The partition is converted to NTFS format and you cannot restore it back to FAT or FAT32 format. To return to FAT or FAT32 format, you must reformat the drive or partition and delete all data including programs and personal files from the corresponding partition.
