Win10 free last minute users soared September or October to catch Win7

Microsoft's free upgrade Windows 10 for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users will expire at the end of July, and the latest data shows that more users are choosing to rely on Windows 10 at this last minute.

Microsoft just announced its Windows market share report for April this year, which shows that Windows 10 market share reached 30%. NetMarketShare's market share report for the same period shows that Windows 10 market share is 15.34%.

According to Microsoft's own data, the market share of Windows 7 in April this year was 51%. The trend of the past six months or so shows that Windows 10's monthly market share has increased by about two percentage points, and the Windows 7 market share has about the same decline every month.

At the current rate, Windows 10 market share will catch up with Windows in September, and of course, once Windows 10 ends up with a free upgrade, the market share will have a considerable change.

The difference between NetMarketShare and Microsoft's market share figures is quite large, but that's because Microsoft's numbers don't factor in XP and other non-Windows operating system market share.

And, NetMarketShare monitors the number of Windows 10 usage, and Microsoft's number is the number of installs, including Windows 10 desktops and tablets that are still on sale in stores and warehouses around the world.
