Microsoft adopted the Insider program in the development process of Windows 10, so there are frequent version changes. Even the official version will continue to roll out branch versions with subtle changes as the test plan matures. However, we don't necessarily see such an identifier on our desktop, and the system properties see a rough number. So when applying some tricks or application software, if you are working on a certain version, how can you quickly know the system version number you are using?
Right-click <;this computer" (or “ This computer & rdquo;), select “ attribute & rdquo; from the pop-up menu, in the subsequent "system" window, we will see the version information of Windows (Figure 1). However, this information is a relatively rough version number. As shown in the figure, the version number of Windows 10 Professional is displayed. We can only know that it is the professional version of Windows 10. The detailed version number is not shown here.
Small Tips:
To view the entry of the system's rough version, you can also right-click on the “Start” button and then click “ in the system control menu. System & rdquo; item to enter. In addition, you can also call out the system control menu by pressing the Win+X key combination (Figure 2).
1. Display the internal version number
The same is the professional version of Windows 10, due to the different upgrade stages, there are subtle version differences. Press the Win+R key combination, then enter the WINVER command in the Run dialog and execute it. A more detailed build number will be given in the “About Windows” information window that pops up later (Figure 3).
In addition, enter the CMD command in the Run window. After starting the Command Prompt window, we first see the version number of Windows, which contains the build number (Figure 4). If you run the “SLMGR/DLV” command in the command prompt window, you can also see the software license service version number in the pop-up window. Run “SYSTEMINFO |
The FINDSTR BUILD” command filters out the build number of the build.
If the CMD method is "strip", the internal version number is displayed, then there is a more formal command, that is, the MSINFO32 command, after executing the command in the run box, the system information will pop up. The display window, the first two shows the system version name and build number of Windows (Figure 5).
Tips:
With the help system of Notepad software, you can also view the internal version number of the Windows system. Since Windows Notepad software is the native editor of Windows system, it is an indispensable part of Windows. Therefore, in the "Notepad" confidence window of its help system, the Windows version is also arranged. Display information (Figure 6). In addition, with the system diagnostic command DXDIAG and the system configuration command MSCONFIG, the version number of the system can be obtained in the related system information display column. It can be said that “all roads lead to Rome”.
2, the most reliable version of the hiding place
After the system upgrade, the system version used by the current system is generally directly related to the system core file explorer.exe. In other words, system updates generally make changes to the properties of explorer.exe. In this way, we can directly obtain the latest system version information through explorer.exe.
Open the Windows folder of your system, navigate to the explorer.exe file, right-click on the file and select “Properties" from the popup menu. In the subsequent explorer.exe property display window, click the “details” tab to see the information about the file”version and <product version" (Figure 7).
Extended reading:
No matter what method you use to view the version number of Windows, in the final analysis, the version number of Windows must exist in the registry. Therefore, we can also use the method of viewing the registry to get the version number of Windows. Open the Registry Editor and follow the branch path of “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion” to locate CurrentVersion. In the right pane, you will see 4 projects, namely BuildLab, BuildLabEx, CurrentBuild. , CurrentBuildNumber, this is where the various version numbers of Windows are stored (Figure 8).
