In the Windows 10 Build 10565 update log released today, Microsoft has improved the activation option, users can use Windows 7/The 8/8.1 product key is used to directly activate the Windows 10 system. This activation adjustment is mainly for users who cannot be activated after upgrading Windows 10 system. You can directly enter the old product key and enter the key after the installation process or after the installation is completed.

If you have not automatically activated after installing Windows 10 Insider Preview on your PC, you can update it via Settings > Security & Security Activate and then choose to change the product key, just like the previous version activation operation. If you choose to reinstall purely, you can also activate the device by directly entering the old device key that meets the criteria in the Media Boot Settings section.

Microsoft's update log is still unclear -- whether it is still necessary to perform an upgrade process before performing a clean and complete installation.
