Windows 8 Consumer Preview has been officially released. Are you installing it?

After the installation is complete, you may see a Windows.old folder under the C drive. This folder will be large and may exceed 20G. But it is not part of the system. The content stored in Windows.old is the last Windows installation, which is the system you used before installing Windows 8, and it has been completely preserved. Its role is to help you restore the system you used before when you want to uninstall Windows 8.

Windows.old is generally not very useful because you chose Windows 8, and it works really well. The next thing to do is to remove it. Windows.old has some special permissions that make it impossible to delete it directly in the Explorer, perhaps to prevent user misuse. Of course this does not mean that it cannot be deleted.
