Talking about the correct uninstallation of the operating system

How to uninstall the operating system? The so-called operating system uninstallation is to return from the upgraded new system to the old system before the upgrade. Taking Windows Me as an example, the Windows Me installer provides the option to back up previous versions of Windows in case you need to uninstall Windows Me later. To enable this option, it must be selected when the "Save System File" prompt appears during the installation process. The installer will create the following hidden files necessary to uninstall Windows Me: W9xundo.dat, W9xundo.ini, Winlfn.ini. But note that if you are a brand new installation, there is no way to uninstall it.

In other words, the prerequisite for system uninstallation is that you must choose to save the original system files during the upgrade installation.

The specific steps to uninstall Windows Me are: "Control Panel → Add /Remove Programs", on the "Install /Uninstall" tab, click "Uninstall Windows Millennium Edition" and then click "Add /Remove" That's it.

There is also a situation, if you encounter problems when starting Windows Me, that is to say you have no way to enter the control panel of Windows, how to uninstall? There is a way, at this time, please use the boot disk to start the computer, and then run "Uninstall" from the "WindowsCommand" directory to uninstall Windows Me under DOS.

If you are dual booting Windows 2000 and Windows 9x, if you want to uninstall Windows 2000, just start the computer with the Windows 9x boot disk, then type "sys c:" at the DOS prompt, then delete Windows 2000. The installation directory is fine. Of course, this is only the way Windows 2000 can be installed under the FAT32 partition. If installed under the NTFS partition, once the Windows 2000 boot will be removed, the NTFS partition will be inaccessible. At this time, only some partition software will be used to delete the partition.

If you don't want to go back to the previous operating system, I suggest you load "SmartDrv" under DOS and type "Deltree Windows installation directory", which is faster and more thorough. If you don't want to install all the data on the operating system's partition, using the "Format partition /s" is also a good choice.
