Win10 first anniversary update version of Edge browser supports TCP Fast Open

Computer Store News: Microsoft announced today that the Edge browser has enabled TCP Fast Open support in the Win10 first anniversary update system. This feature can be found in the Edge browser about:flags page, the system version needs to be 14352 and above or EdgeHTML Version 14.14361 and above. With TCP Fast Open, the Edge browser will be more secure and performance-enhancing.

TCP Fast Open can enable Edge browser to reduce the round-trip time of network exchange encrypted data. TFO is a new feature introduced in Linux kernel version 3.6. The relevant standard is proposed by Google client through TCP. When connected to the server, it can carry data in SYN packets, which will improve the efficiency of TCP (4%-41%). The premise is that in this SYN message, there is a cookie field generated by the server on behalf of the client in the previous TCP connection. During the first TCP connection creation process between the client and the server, it is the usual three-way handshake process, but the server will generate a cookie as the authentication information of the subsequent TCP connection, which avoids malicious attacks.

Microsoft will add 0-RTT experience support to the Edge browser so that encrypted data is always sent along with TLS Client Hello and previous storage server information. The Edge browser supports HTTP 2.0, TLS 1.3 and CP Fast Open, TLS False Start, and Microsoft will support the TLS 1.3 feature released later this summer.
