Developer Gospel: Windows 10 Preview Edition Supports Linux Command Line

Computer Store News: Microsoft this week released the first Windows 10 internal preview version that supports the native Linux bash command line. Microsoft released the news at the Build Developers Conference last week. Microsoft hopes to attract more developers with this move. Microsoft introduced the installation method in the official blog. The important point is that if you want to use the Linux subsystem of Windows, then the user needs to set Windows from the default mode to developer mode via the “Settings> application. Users can then add this feature through Windows Features and get the runtime environment. This process is a bit more complicated, but it also shows that Microsoft is positioning Linux support as a developer feature rather than providing it to the average user.

Running the Linux Command Line in Windows 10

This new version seems to be the most important upgrade since last year's "Upgrade in November". In addition to the Linux subsystem of Windows, this new version will provide several features. The Cortana Smart Assistant will be optimized to synchronize phone status and notifications between Windows and Android phones and Windows PCs. Cortana can also help users find their phones and ring when their phones are lost. If the user looks for navigation information on the PC, the information will be sent to the phone.

The new version also upgrades support for plugins and also includes the new Skype Universal Windows Platform app.

Windows 10 will also support black themes

The user interface will also be adjusted. Windows 10 will receive a new black theme that is consistent with the black theme of Windows 10 Mobile. The virtual desktop will support fixed apps that will be displayed on all desktop pages. And Microsoft will also offer a new emoticon that supports emoticons of different skin tones.

As a preview, this version of Windows 10 will also have known vulnerabilities. Microsoft listed all the new features and known vulnerabilities in the blog. The industry does not recommend users to run this version of Windows 10 on the main PC.
