Start Menu
The Start menu completely replaces the Modern Start screen, while retaining full access to all Windows RT 8.1 applications.
Start Menu Area
The expanded start menu is divided into 6 main sections.
1. Top. Shown here is the user account avatar and power button.
2. Fixed list. Pin the app in this section for quick access.
3. A list of the most commonly used applications. Show apps that you use often but are not pinned to the Start menu.
4. All applications. Click here to search for any app on your device.
5. Search text box. Click here to start searching.
6. Apply the grid. All immersive Modern applications can be pinned to the panel, or the app can be unpinned or resized.
Starting or Disabling the Start Menu
1. Press and hold (or right-click) the desktop taskbar and select “Properties"
2. Select “Start Menu&rdquo ;Options
3. Select the checkbox labeled "Use the Start menu to replace the start screen"
4. Click on the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. “OK”
5. Select “Exit and change the Start menu in the “Change Start Menu” dialog box>
If you choose “Cancel&rdquo ;, means to abandon the changes
Fix or unapply in the application grid of the Start menu
1.Find the application you want to fix

If the number of fixed apps in the Start menu exceeds the displayable area of the screen, the scroll bar is automatically added. Users can scroll through fixed apps using mouse or touch drag.
Most commonly used applications
Apps that users frequently use are displayed in the most frequently used lists. Any apps that are pinned to the app grid, fixed list, or taskbar will not appear in the most frequently used list. In addition, any apps removed from this list will not be displayed again.
