Deep integration into Win8.1, Microsoft conversion game search

Computer Store News: Microsoft today announced that Windows 8.1, which will be launched on the 18th, will be deeply integrated with its search products < Bing & rdquo;. Bing will be the default search for Windows 8 and will be able to complete local and networked searches simultaneously. At the same time, Bing will be deeply integrated with Microsoft Office software, the former will become one of the tools on the Office toolbar.

This also means that Microsoft will change the way it has seized the market through third-party channels, and once again promote its search business with the market advantage of its Windows system business.

Since the launch of Bing Service in 2009, Bing has performed very well in various markets around the world. According to data released by investment firm Macquarie Capital, Bing’s share of the US search market reached 17.4% in May. Although this share still lags behind Google, it is far better than its performance in the Chinese market: CNZZ, a domestic Internet traffic monitoring agency, shows that Bing’s domestic market share in September was only 0.61%, ranking sixth. .

As early as July at Microsoft's Build 2013 conference, Microsoft released the Windows 8.1 preview and demonstrated the effects of Bing's deep integration. In the new version, Bing will be integrated into the right toolbar of the Metro interface. After users enter search keywords, they can not only search for existing apps, app stores and documents, but also display search results on the Internet. .

Microsoft has named this search experience as "immersive" search experience. In the original Windows 8 version, Bing, like Baidu and Google, is a stand-alone application, but it must be pre-installed. When users use search, they must switch to the app or open a browser to enter the address of the search engine.

At the same time, Bing will also be deeply integrated with Office Office software in Windows 8.1. The former will become one of the tools on the Office toolbar, equivalent to "view", "insert” ; and other tools. For example, if the user needs to insert a picture into the document, he can directly use the Bing to search for the desired picture and use it in the document, without going back to the main interface to switch between applications.

Wang Yongdong, Dean of the Microsoft (Asia) Internet Engineering Institute, said that Bing will become a universal information search platform in the future and will be embedded in Microsoft's full line of products, including XBOX. Previously, in XBOX and Windows Phone, Bing also took on the search function. Bing also changed the new logo this time, using the orange in the Microsoft four-color logo as the main color, and removed the Beta logo on the logo.

However, as the most controversial version of the operating system in Microsoft history, the current development trend of Windows 8 is not too optimistic. A year after the official release, market research company Net Applications released data showing that as of the end of July, in all versions of Windows, Windows 8 market share was only 5.9%, compared with only 0.3% in June. Therefore, how much help Windows 8 can bring to Bing is not known.
