Exposure WP8.1 will cancel the entity return key

Computer Store News: Microsoft may be preparing to cancel the entity return button on Windows Phone 8.1 phones. According to Paul Thurrott, Microsoft will cancel the entity return key in the hardware requirements of WP8.1, which is expected to be released in early 2014. The entity return key allows the user to return to view the previous application interface, but Windows Phone users indicate that in most cases, the Start button is used to return to the home screen before selecting another application.

WP is also using the entity return key to access the multitasking user interface, but it is unclear how the multitasking function will operate when WP8.1 cancels the entity return key. The news said that WP8.1 will also introduce multi-tasking improvements related to background processes and notification centers. WP is now seriously lacking support for the notification system, and Microsoft is expected to add a notification center to the WP8.1 update.

Other improvements include maximum 10-inch screen support. Microsoft is currently preparing to release the WP8 GDR3 update, which will bring 5-inch and 6-inch screen support. WP8.1 will go a step further and is expected to bring support for 7-inch and 10-inch screens. Win8 and Windows RT are now ready to fill the 7-inch market, and it's unclear how Microsoft will plan to encourage OEMs to produce devices for different systems. More clearly, Microsoft should be preparing for the merger of Windows RT and Windows Phone.

Microsoft is still doing a series of work to get developers to create applications that support both the Windows RT and Windows Phone platforms. Windows Director Terry Myerson also hinted at the integration of Windows RT and WP platforms.

Until the spring of 2014, Microsoft will release Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 GDR updates.
