Computer Store News: Microsoft has finally completed their Windows 8.1 update. Sources familiar with the Microsoft Windows program have revealed to TheVerge that the company has completed the development of Windows 8.1 earlier this week — — Build 9600 is the RTM version of Windows 8.1. In early July, Microsoft promised that Win8.1 will complete development in the end of August. After more than a month, Microsoft has now fulfilled their promise.


It is understood that Microsoft will publicly announce that it has completed the development of Windows 8.1 next week. This version will also be issued to PC manufacturers so that they can pre-install the new system on a series of new hardware to prepare for the official launch on October 18. Existing Windows 8 users will be able to get the final version of Windows 8.1 for free on October 17 through the App Store (Windows Store). In general, shortly after RTM, Microsoft will release the final version of Windows to their MSDN and TechNet subscribers, but Microsoft may not do so this time, holding the new version until the mid-October regular availability. Windows 8.1 improves application multitasking, returning start buttons, adding smaller active tiles, optimizing for 7-8 inch tablets, and more.
