ASUS is eyeing Windows 8

Computer store news: Benson & middot; Benson Lin, vice president of ASUS mobile communications products, said the company is in talks with Microsoft about licensing Windows 8 mobile operating systems. This makes Asus become the latest Asian computer manufacturer to focus on the Windows 8 mobile operating system. PC vendors have been trying to cross-border mobile phones for the simple reason. According to market research firm IDC, smartphone shipments increased by 45% last year and PC shipments contracted by 3.2%.

ASUS partnered with Google last year to launch the Nexus 7 tablet, which retails for $199. Analysts pointed out that ASUS is still not considered a global mobile product manufacturer and has not achieved high brand recognition in the United States. Benson · Lin recently said in an interview that Asus has begun discussions with Microsoft about the launch of the Win8 version of the variant mobile phone Padfone, expanding the emerging smartphone business, "I think the Win8
version of Padfone makes sense. There is currently no timetable, but we are interested in producing Windows phones. A Microsoft spokesperson did not comment on the negotiations with Asus. Benson · Lin said that Asus is still negotiating with US telecom operators, with the goal of selling mobile phones in the US next year. Analysts said that due to the relatively small number of applications, Microsoft's newly released WP8
was partially suspected. However, Nokia's better-than-expected Windows phone shipments in the fourth quarter of last year helped to raise market expectations for the future of Windows Phone 8. Nokia announced this month that smartphone shipments have grown for the first time in a year, driven by strong growth in the new Lumia line of handsets. Currently, Nokia, HTC, Samsung and Huawei produce Windows 8 smartphones. Windows 8 is Microsoft's first operating system across traditional computers, smartphones and tablets. Although it has been producing mobile phones for several years, Asus has not become a mainstream mobile phone manufacturer. Currently, Asus sells mobile phones in 20 countries in Europe and Asia Pacific.
