Windows and Ubuntu dual system completely independent installation method

When installing Windows and Ubuntu dual system, many people like to install windows first, then install ubuntu and finally use ubuntu's own grub to boot, if you reinstall windows, then ubuntu can not start up. It will take a long time to repair it.

Today I recommend an installation method that completely separates the two systems, regardless of which system is reinstalled without affecting the other system. There is a requirement here that the windows version is higher than xp and does not support xp.

Step 1: Install the windows system.

Step 2: Install liveusb-creator and make a U disk version of the ubuntu boot disk.

Step 3: Insert U disk to install ubuntu.

Step 4: Add the ubuntu startup item to the Windows Boot Manager.

It is roughly divided into four steps, as if everyone is installed like this. Let's take a look at the way I installed it.

The first step is to install windows and run out a blank disk of about 30G. (The size is set according to personal preference, ps: the number of primary partitions cannot be more than 4 when partitioning, otherwise linux cannot be installed)

The second step can refer to http://www.ubuntuhome.com/liveusb-creator- V3-11-7-releases.html, be careful to install to the C drive, if it is not installed to the C drive, there may be problems. I have tried and tested the software, except for archlinux.

The third step is to install linux. This step is the key. We have to install grub into the Linux partition. ubuntu versions Download: http: //www.ubuntuhome.com/ubuntu-download

here More advanced, there is no problem with careful operation, and you can also click "Restore" to recover, so don't worry about anything.

In my case, I only divided two areas for ubuntu, a root partition (/dev/sda6) and a swap partition (/dev/sda7). These two partitions must be installed in linux. .

The following is a device that installs the boot loader. This selects the root partition of linux or the boot partition (if you have a boot partition). Then proceed to the next step of installation.

Restart after installation, there is no difference between not installing ubuntu and directly entering your windows system. We need to add the ubuntu startup item to the windows boot manager.

Step 4: Download the easybcd software installation.

Click & ldquo; 1 & rdquo ;, then & ldquo; 2 & rdquo; select & ldquo; grub 2 & rdquo ;, below just fill in a name you like, Click the “3” button.

OK, restart windows, then you will find one more in the Windows Boot Manager (name is filled in at the "2"), select the carriage return, this has entered our familiar The grub boot manager.

Because grub is installed into Ubuntu, if Windows has problems reinstalling, we can just add the startup item with easybcd. If you want to upgrade ubuntu, it is disgusting. This thing will write grub to mbr. If you upgrade ubuntu, you must reinstall it. I used to upgrade from one version of Ubuntu to another, and found that the upgrade is different from the direct installation, so I reinstall the system every time.
