Dual-screen user Gospel Win8 multi-monitor management details

Computer Shop News Windows 7 has a very convenient dual monitor mode switching function, which can quickly solve the configuration problem of a dual display. However, Win7 only provides the most basic functions, can not meet some high requirements, so Win8 has a lot of improvements in this regard, and it is reported that the upcoming release preview (Windows 8 Release Preview) will have some new features to join.

Under the current version, the Windows 8 Metro environment is special, it can only be displayed on a single screen, using the extended mode will only display the traditional desktop, can not extend the Metro start screen to the second display (enter Traditional desktops can use extended mode as normal.)

Similar to Win7, Win8 can also use the [Win + P] key combination to call out dual monitor configuration options, but the presentation is very different from Win7. Win8 appears on the right side of the entire screen.

There is no difference between display mode and Win7. It is the same as computer, copy, extension, and only the second display. These options can also be found in the multi-monitor options in "Control Panel Appearance and Personalized Display Screen Resolution".

In addition, Win8 has two better places to do than Win7, one is the background image setting on multiple displays, and the other is to allow the taskbar to be displayed on all screens.

For the background image setting on the multi-display, the previous Xiaobian has introduced relevant information (see here). Microsoft has created a panoramic theme for Win8. The difference between it and the ordinary theme lies in the picture. Position & rdquo; adds a Span option for dual monitors, splits the panorama into two, and then displays a portion of the full image on each of the two screens.

The background image of the panorama theme can choose the new mode

If there is no suitable panorama, it doesn't matter, Win8 allows We manually specify to display different wallpapers on each display. Just like Win7, enter the “Control Panel Appearance and Personalize Personalized Desktop Background” window, select the background image to be displayed on the main display, then right click on the image and select Apply to the specified display.

Displaying the taskbar on all screens is probably what many dual-monitor users need. Win8 is a latecomer and finally added this feature.

Displaying the taskbar on all displays

As you can see, the sum is added to the taskbar properties window. Multiple display related options allow the taskbar to be displayed on each display. There are three display options:

All taskbars: The full taskbar is displayed on each display, including the Pin icon and the open window/program icon on the taskbar;

The main taskbar and the taskbar with the window open: the main display shows the full taskbar (ibid.), and the external display taskbar only displays the window/program icon that is open on the current screen (the icon of Pin on the taskbar is not displayed);

Open the taskbar of the window: The taskbar on all displays only displays the window/program icons that are open on your own screen.

Note: These operating options require the user to have an existing dual monitor connection.

At the beginning of this article, the current Metro interface of Win8CP can only be used on the main display, but according to foreign websites, the next Win8RP version will allow users to move the Metro environment to the specified screen. You can drag the Metro app to move them. As for whether it is true or not, you can see it after a few weeks of patience.
