Microsoft licenses Acer and ViewSonic to use Android patents

Beijing time on September 9th, Microsoft yesterday announced a patent license agreement for Acer and ViewSonic, granting the two companies the use of Google's Android mobile operating system smartphones and tablets.

According to a press release issued by Redmon, ViewSonic will be executed strictly according to the agreement, including the Chrome platform, to pay royalties. Microsoft's statement does not specify whether Acer needs to pay royalties.

According to reports, the patents provided by Windows manufacturers are more profitable from Android resellers than the WP7 platform. For example, HTC pays $5 for each device sold.

Microsoft announced in July that it had got four new Android patent deal - Wistron, Velocity Micro, General Dynamics and Onkyo companies have signed an agreement with Microsoft.

As far as the incident itself is concerned, Acer has stated that it will face any challenge of patent infringement on the Android platform. HTC Chairman Wang Zhentang once accused Apple of suing HTC, which itself has exceeded the scope of Android's "patent war".

Last month, Microsoft and Google executives fell into the Android patent scuffle, and Google’s chief legal officer complained that Microsoft, Apple and other companies jointly purchased patents from Novell and Nortel Networks. Premeditated things. Microsoft claims that Google has refused to invite the Novell consortium to fight back.

Google CEO Larry Page said that the August acquisition of the Motorola incident was "to prevent the anti-competitive threat from Microsoft, Apple and other companies to grab Android. "Google Inc. announced that it will acquire Motorola for $12.5 billion, mainly because of Moto's more than 17,000 patents.

At the same time, Apple’s legal struggle against Android vendors such as Samsung and HTC continues. Earlier this week, HTC patented Google and began counterattacking Apple. Apple has successfully secured a number of bans against rival Samsung's Galaxy series of tablets and smartphones.
