With the update of the operating system IE7 is becoming more and more common, and in many systems, the default is installed ie7, but this is a bit of a disadvantage, that is for you who are used to IE6 Is it not too accustomed to the way IE7 looks or works? You can improve your work efficiency with some simple settings, and it will be more convenient to use.
In this article, you'll find out how to speed up IE to display web pages, build your own search bar engine, control how IE prints web pages, navigate with keyboard shortcuts, and more. These tips are available under Windows XP and Windows Vista. Some of them are very easy to implement, while others are slightly more advanced. Still others need to modify the registry.
Important: If you are not familiar with registry editing —— for example if you are not sure how to create a new DWORD value —— please learn some Windows registry modifications before modifying method. Also, back up the registry before you try any registry edits.
1. Add your own search engine to IE
There are many built-in search providers in the search bar in the upper right corner of IE7 for you to choose from. Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the search bar to easily add more search engines, select “ find more providers & rdquo; then add them on the page that appears.
But you can't be limited to using these search engines provided by Microsoft. You can build your own search engine and use the IE search bar to search for any website, no matter where you are on the internet.
Note that this site is not necessarily the search engine itself; any website with search capabilities is fine. For example, if you frequently find content for sports, shopping, or travel sites, you can create a search engine for those sites and add them to the search bar in IE7.
First, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the search bar and select “Find more providers”. In the page that appears, you can see “create your own”.
In another tab, open the search engine you want to create in IE. For example, open software.it16 8.com.
In the search box of the site, type “TEST”, make sure you are using uppercase letters. After the search, copy the resulting URL from the address bar and paste it into the tab that created your own ”.
In our case, the URL is: http://publish.it16 8.com/showart…22&keyword=TEST
Next, create your own " In , enter the name of a search engine. In our example, we named it "IT168".
Click the “Install" button to install the new search engine into IE. You will see a prompt to confirm if you want to install. Click “Add Provider”.
Now, your newly added search engine is ready to use. Click on the arrow to the right of the search bar and you will see the options you have added to the list, as shown in Figure 2. Now you can use it like any other search engine.
2. Accelerate IE page load speed
By default, IE only allows two sessions to be downloaded simultaneously from a single web server. This will affect the speed of your web browsing, because you can't download all the objects that make up the webpage at the same time, so the page will display much slower. If you can force IE to download more objects at the same time, the page will display much faster.
A Windows registry modification technique can do this. With this modification, you can force IE to use more than two simultaneous sessions. The best number is 10. Here are the steps:
1) Enter “regedit” to open the Registry Editor on the command line or in the Start Search box of Windows Vista.
2) Enter HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternetSettings.
3) Select “Edit”>;“New”>;“DWORD Value”.
4) Create a new DWORD value, name it MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server, and set its value to 10.
5) Select “Edit”>;“New”>;“DWORD value”, create another DWORD value called MaxConnectionsPerServer and set its value to 10.
(Note that if you want to set more than 10 values, then the values of the two DWORDs should be set the same.)
6) Logout Table editor and exit IE. When you restart IE, the new value will speed up your browsing.
