Everyone saw this topic as a cliché. However, this time we are discussing how to use the "Internet Connection Sharing" function provided by Windows itself to realize ADSL shared Internet access based on "Windows Server 2003 + Windows XP". Although the implementation principle is the same as other systems (Windows 2000, Windows 98), there are some differences in the specific operation.
Adding a network card
The computer used to do the "Internet Connection Sharing" server should have two network cards installed, one connected to the ADSL Modem and the other connected to the internal network computer or switch.
Turn on "Internet Connection Sharing"
Suppose the server side is using Windows Server 2003. In the "Network Connections" dialog box, right-click the ADSL connection icon, select "Properties", open the "Properties" dialog box, then go to the "Advanced" tab, check "<;Internet Connection Sharing&rdquo" In the "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" option. Then select the local connection to the intranet computer or switch in the “Home Network Connection” drop-down list (this article is “Local Area Connection 2”). Other options remain at their default settings, and finally click the “OK” button.
Tip: After enabling <;Internet Connection Sharing", the IP address of the "Local Area Connection 2" connected to the intranet will be automatically set to "192.168.0.1" by the system. Therefore, if the IP addresses of other computers in the intranet do not belong to the network segment, the communication may be terminated. It is recommended to set the computer on the intranet to the mode of automatically obtaining the IP address.
Client Sharing Internet
Take the Windows XP client as an example, set the IP address to the automatic acquisition mode, and you can share the Internet without specifying a gateway. Of course, you can also set the IP address to one of “192.168.0.2~192.168.0.255”, and the gateway is designated as “192.168.0.1”.
