Windows 2000 Management Internet Information Server

Through the above learning, the user learned how to create an Internet information server, the following describes how to manage their own Internet information server. Effective management ensures the safe and normal operation of the user's Internet information server.

Disconnecting the server

After the user's Internet information server is connected to the Internet, if you no longer want other users on the network to access your server for some reason, you can disconnect the server. For example, in a certain period of time, the virus in the network is particularly large or powerful, and the user should disconnect the server in case of any eventuality.

To disconnect from the server, in the console tree, double-click the Internet Information Services node to expand the node. Then right click on the server node and select the "Disconnect" command from the pop-up shortcut menu. After the confirmation message prompt box appears, click the "Yes" button.

Connection Server

After the server is disconnected, the user can connect to the server as needed and continue to publish network information through the server. For example, a server that is disconnected due to a network virus can re-establish a connection after the network virus is contained. To connect to the server, in the console tree, right-click the "Internet Information Services" node and select the "Connect" command from the pop-up shortcut menu to open the "Connect to Computer" dialog box as shown in Figure 14 - 36. Enter the computer name of the Internet Information Server to be connected in the "Computer" text box and click the "OK" button.

Backing up and restoring server configuration
During the maintenance process of the server, it is difficult for users to ensure that their modifications and settings are correct. It is possible to make more or less operational errors and cause the server. It does not work properly; in addition, the illegal operation of the visitor and malicious attacks may also cause damage to the server. At this point, you need a way to restore the normal operation of the server system, backup and restore server configuration is undoubtedly the best way. When the server is normal, back up its configuration; when the server has an error, restore the server configuration backup data to quickly troubleshoot the server. However, restoring the server configuration is a very time consuming operation that will overwrite all current settings and cause all services to be stopped and restarted. To back up and restore the server configuration, follow the steps below:
1. In the console tree (see Figure 14 - 4), double-click the Internet Information Services node to expand the node. Then right-click the server node and select the Backup and Restore Configuration command from the pop-up shortcut menu to open the Configure Backup/Restore dialog box, as shown in Figure 14 - 37.
