Win 2000 system disk defragmentation

The computer has been used for a long time. A large number of files are stored on the disk. These files are not stored in a contiguous disk space. Instead, a file is scattered in many places. These scattered files are called "disk fragments." "" These fragments will reduce the performance of the entire Windows. So Windows provides a program to defragment the disk. (See Figure 1)

Open the Start menu, move the mouse to Programs, Accessories, and click Disk Defragmenter. (See Figure 2)

(Figure 2)

The "Disk Defragmenter" under Windows 2000 is quite different from Windows 98. Generally, let the program analyze the usage of the disk, select the C drive, and click “Analyze”. (See Figure 3.) The status bar below the window shows the current progress of the operation. Soon the analysis is over, and at the same time, it is given whether there is a need to sort out the recommendations, and now the program recommends defragmentation.

In the "Analysis" column that follows, you can also see the distribution of the file. The red part is the scattered file, and the white part is the blank area. We can also take a look at the analysis report and click on “View Report”. (See Figure 4)
