For Windows 2000 installation, many people are no strangers, admittedly, for the majority of users who use IDE hard disk, from Windows 98 to execute Windows 2000 Setup.exe, upgrade or direct installation, No difficulties will be encountered. But if your computer is a graphics workstation using a SCSI hard drive, it may be a different matter.

My computer is a typical example. The SCSI hard disk is both a material disk and a boot disk. The SCSI card is a Jianbang DC395UW. Recently, a DVRAPTOR-RT nonlinear editing card has been added, and the Windows 98 system has to be updated. For Windows 2000 (DVRAPTOR is not very compatible with Windows 98). Execute Windows 2000 Setup.exe under Windows 98, select upgrade installation, install the program to perform some system check, prompt to provide the driver for Windows 2000 under the board. After providing one by one, the system restarts itself and continues the installation process. . Select Windows 2000 from the Windows 98/Windows 2000 boot options. After reading the disk for a while, an error message appears. The general meaning is: If this is the first time, please restart it; otherwise your hard disk may be infected with virus or Other errors, please restart and perform a disk check.

The hard disk is obviously good. Windows 98 is selected at startup. The machine works well. It is definitely another error. Restart your computer and pay close attention to the relevant display. After the SETUP IS INSPECTING YOUR COMPUTER'S HARDWARE CONFIGURATION... prompt appears, a blue screen appears, and the bottom of the screen appears for about 2 seconds: “Press F6 to import third-party SCSI. Or RAID driver", contact yourself to use the SCSI hard disk, suddenly realized, press F6, the prompt: "Direct installation please press Enter; if you have SCSI or RAID storage device or CD-ROM, please press S", Press S, the system prompts to insert the SCSI or RAID driver into the DC395UW driver floppy disk, press Enter, select the driver for Windows 2000, press Enter, and it will be smooth all the way.

The reason for the analysis problem is that the external SCSI card cannot be driven under DOS. Although it is driven under Windows 98, when Windows 2000 is installed, the boot is selected as Windows 2000, so the installer cannot be found. The hard disk can't be installed naturally. Also note that Windows 2000 is installed under Windows 98, but the file copy is still done under DOS, so you must hang the CD-ROM drive under DOS, otherwise the installation can not be completed.
