1, virtual memory: virtual memory is the use of hard disk space to impersonate the memory to make up for the lack of computer memory space (because the memory is more than the hard disk price high). The speed of the memory is much faster than the speed of the hard disk. Some files that are often used in normal systems are stored in memory, and memory can't be stored in virtual memory. Although the memory is virtualized by the hard disk, the memory capacity seems to increase, but the hard disk is always a shortcoming in some speeds.
2, the memory disk: The memory disk here is a virtual hard disk, which is to divide a part of the space in the physical memory to act as a hard disk. It is used to transfer some of the things stored in virtual memory and commonly used files (such as IE) into memory to improve the response speed. The memory disk is used to store some commonly used page files and temporary files. Because the file is read and written to the memory, the speed of booting and shutdown will be slowed down. 3, Superfetch: Improved a memory management function in the Vista system, that is Superfetch. It can record and identify the most frequently used software combinations (such as opening MSN and then opening QQ), and intelligently preloading the software you might use into memory. In other words, everyday software loads faster.
There are many people who think that using the memory disk function can improve the response speed of the system. However, as a user with 2G memory or more memory, the effect of using a memory disk is not as good as directly closing virtual memory. The size of the memory disk limits the number of page files stored in the memory. After the virtual memory is turned off, the page file that should have been placed on the virtual memory will be stored in the memory, so the speed increase will be more obvious than using the memory disk. Superfetch, I think it needs to be improved, because IE stops responding when it is turned on on the author's computer. It is rare to appear after shutdown. It will take up some memory, and the memory usage will increase a lot after booting for a while.
It may be complicated to write, then a simple summary: 2G or more users can turn off virtual memory as long as they don't play large games. Users of 1G to 2G can use virtual memory, which is about 1.5 times the size of memory; you can also use the memory disk if you are not bothered. Users with less than 1G of RAM are advised not to use Vista. Superfetch recommends shutting down (can be turned off using Vista Optimizer's service optimization).
