Reasons and solutions for Vista resource manager occupying 90%~100% of CPU

Problem Description

When entering a folder with a large number of files, the CPU usage of explorer.exe instantly increases to about 90%, causing the system to die. This is because Vista generates thumbnails collectively when entering a folder of a large number of files (similar to the index established at the same time), and the resource manager crashes due to the excessive number of cases. The complete resolution of this problem requires waiting for the Microsoft patch.

Solutions

1, close the thumbnail

click on the "computer icon" - & gt; tissue - & gt; Folder and Search Options - > [View] tab,
In the list of advanced settings, find the "Always show icons, never show thumbnails" option, check and exit. This will not happen again in the future. (Disadvantage of this is that the thumbnail image can not be seen)

Method 2, explorer.exe process ends directly in the task manager, then [File] - & gt; [New Task], Enter explorer.exe, OK, and that's fine.

but when entering suspended animation just cause of the folder, because the thumbnail index is not completed established, so it is likely to result in suspended animation again.

You can repeat this step until the thumbnail index is all set up. After that, you will not have this problem when you enter that folder.

But entering other folders with a lot of files may still appear.

Added:

Sometimes when a large number of new files are created (for example, after installing a large software), the Vista system will continue to flash and the disk capacity display will change constantly. This is actually normal, this is the Vista system is creating a file index (used to speed up access), so don't worry, just wait for the end of the process.
