System Tips: The idea of making a flash boot disk

When the computer fails to boot, the boot disk is the last straw of the computer "resurrection". Now that flash memory has entered thousands of households, it is easy and convenient to make a flash boot disk.

The idea of making a flash boot disk is to first flash WinPE into the flash memory and then let the WinPE of the graphical interface start the computer.

WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment) is a 32-bit system with only a small (but very core) service. It can be used to create a graphical shell (ShellEx) that will boot the computer on a medium such as a CD. (Figure).

Step 1: Download WinPE

There are many WinPE versions made by computer experts on the Internet. Here, we recommend the "Deep Mountain Red Leaf Pocket PE CD Toolbox", which is based on Windows XP. A number of system maintenance and repair tools are integrated, and the downloaded format is an ISO CD image.

Step 2: Write WinPE to Flash

To write WinPE to flash, you need to use UltraISO software, you can access the download.

The following is the specific method to write WinPE to flash: First, click the "Open" button on the UltraISO toolbar, select the WinPE image file you downloaded, and then select "Start → Write Hard Disk Image", in In the "image file", UltraISO has automatically filled in the path of the WinPE image file. The web teaching network reminds everyone to insert the flash memory. When UltraISO detects the flash memory, the “write mode” in the dialog box will become optional. It is recommended to select “USB-HDD+” or “USB-ZIP+” mode. These two modes are compatible. Better; next click "OK", UltraISO pop-up dialog box prompts that the data on the flash will be lost, click "Yes" to continue.

Step 3: Check and Verify

After the write is complete, unplug the flash, close UltraISO, and then insert the flash again, in the Device Manager (Control Panel → System → Hardware) There is an additional USB disk in the "disk drive". You're done, the rest is to set the priority boot device in the BIOS to "USB" for experimentation.
