Improve the speed of the switch of Win7/Vista/XP system

Optimize the read-ahead file settings and speed up the Vista switch.

From the XP era, there are similar technical articles on the Internet. Let's revisit today and see the users under Win7 and Vista. How to get started to optimize the speed of the switch.

As for the optimization of the Windows operating system, there will be a super-complete article, which is more than the one that was sent to the Vista home that year. Of course, everything is technical discussion, everyone dialectically Go and see, after all, it is mixed with some personal opinions of soft media editing. Take the essence, go to the dregs :)

Starting on the topic of this article, how to speed up the on/off of Win7/Vista/XP system by optimizing the read-ahead file settings. Here, considering XP, Vista and Win7 and all users under Win2003 and Win2008, we choose to use Rubik's cube as an example. Of course, the Vista system uses Vista optimization master, Win7 system with Windows7 optimization master is also a good choice.

First, the pre-reading program is prohibited from generating index files

The pre-reading file may cause the system to start slowing down because it is caused by reading the index file generated when the program is run. Therefore, we only need to ban the generation of those PF files.

Open the Rubik's Cube, click on "System Optimization", "Service Optimization", find the "Superfetch" service and check it, click Stop below and set it to manual, OK, so the Superfetch service is completely banned. The service name under the XP system is Prefetch, so pay attention to it.

Second, only read system files

In fact, in the article "Catch the contents of Prefetch read-ahead files in Win7/Vista/XP" we mentioned that It's best not to turn off this prefetch service, we can choose to set it instead of disabling it all.

Because Prefetch saves the index information of the system and application, from the perspective of improving the startup speed, it reminds everyone that only the system file can be set to read, and the index file reading process of the application is skipped.

To do this, we can run "regedit" and open the registry editor, then select

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/Memory Management/PrefetchParameters

Double-click "EnablePrefetcher" on the right side, you can see that the value is 3, that is, read system files and applications, we can change it to 2, that is, only pre-read Windows system files. In this way, the Windows system only pre-reads the system files after it is started again.

Three, shut down automatically clear the pre-read file

We can also automatically clear the contents of the pre-read folder by shutting down, in order to speed up the next boot speed.

Open Notepad and enter

del %systemroot%/Prefetch/*.* /q

to save the file as a del.bat file.

Next, open the "Run" window, enter gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Group Policy Editor, select "Computer Configuration - Windows Settings - Script", double-click the "Shutdown" item on the right, Click the "Add" button in the open window to add the del.bat file. In this way, when the system is shut down, the group policy will call del.bat in the background and run the commands to clear the contents of the pre-read folder, thus improving the speed of the next startup.

Through the above operation, I believe that the pre-reading file will play its original function and will no longer become an obstacle to booting.
