Note: Your computer must be configured to boot from the CD drive or DVD drive. For more information about how to configure your computer to boot from a CD drive or DVD drive, see the documentation that came with your computer or contact your computer manufacturer.
2. When the following message appears on the screen, press the R key to start the Recovery Console: Welcome to the installer
3. Select your Windows XP installation. This installation is usually located in the C:\\Windows directory.
4. Type the administrator password as prompted. If you don't have an administrator password, press Enter.
5. At the command prompt, type cd $ntservicepackuninstall$spuninst and press Enter.
6. Warning: When you complete this step, you will not be able to terminate the removal process.
At the command prompt, type batch spuninst.txt and press Enter.
7. When the removal process is complete, type exit and press Enter.
8. Restart your computer.
Important: After the computer restarts, Windows Explorer (Explorer.exe) does not run, you must follow these steps:
a. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to start Task Manager .
b. Click the Applications tab and then click New Task.
c. In the Open box, type regedit and then click OK.
d. Locate the following registry subkey and click on it:
