WinRAR compressed file we should know a few points

1. Make a self-extracting file

If you use WinRAR to compress files, your friends won't use WinRAR, but your data must be compressed before you can give it to him. . At this point, we can make the RAR archive into an EXE file. He can extract it by executing the generated EXE file.

(1) Direct generation method

For example, if we want to compress the C:\\total data.txt file into an EXE format file, we can start “resource manager”, select C :\\General information.txt file, right-click, select WinRAR→“Add to zip package” command. Then select the “Create self-extracting format compressed file” checkbox under the “Compress file name and parameters” setting window in the “Compress file name and parameters” setting window. Click the “OK" button to compress the selected file into a self-extracting file.

(2) Conversion method

If we have a RAR archive on hand, we can also convert it to an EXE file via WinRAR: start WinRAR and then locate the RAR archive folder. Next, select the RAR archive, and then select “Tools”→“Convert the file to self-extracting format" or press Alt+X and click the “OK” button to generate a self-extracting file.

We just send the generated EXE file to a friend by e-mail. After they receive it, just double-click it to extract the files in the archive to the current folder.

Note: If damage occurs and you cannot decompress it yourself, you can change the extension of this file from EXE to RAR. Double-click it to open it with WinRAR, and you can extract it yourself.

2. Think of WinRAR as a file manager

WinRAR is a compression and decompression tool, but it is also a very good file manager. As long as we type a folder in its address bar, all the files under it will be displayed, even the hidden files and file extensions can be seen! We can be like in the "Explorer" Copy, delete, move, and run these files

3. Repair damaged compressed files

If you open a compressed package, you find it corrupted. That can start WinRAR, locate the damaged compressed folder, select the file in it, and then select the “fix” button on the toolbar (the English version is Repair). After confirming, WinRAR will start to repair the file. A repaired window will pop up. We only need to choose the repaired ZIP file package or RAR compression package.
