How to make Windows XP system hard disk capacity

Nowadays, the capacity of your computer's hard disk is generally very large, so you don't have to worry about the capacity of the hard disk. However, the hard disk of some old-fashioned machines is not so big, and it may not be used enough. How to increase capacity?

In the Windows 9X operating system, you can compress the hard disk through the system tool & ldquo; disk space management to increase the available space on the disk. And we can't find "disk space management" in Windows xp, don't be frustrated, its practical Windows XP can also compress disks and folders to increase disk space, provided that Windows XP is used under NTFS. Let's take the F disk as an example to see the compression of the disk in Windows XP.

1. Compress the disk

Open “My Computer", view the "F"F" Properties” window, under the "General" tab, select “ Compress the disk to save disk space, and then click "Apply" to pop up "Property modification confirmation" dialog window, select “ Apply changes to the folder, subfolders and files & rdquo; Select “Apply changes only to F:” . Click “OK” to automatically pop up the “Application Properties” window and display the remaining time. The system starts to compress the disk. After the compression, we can view its properties and the available space is obviously increased.

2, folder compression

Open "My Computer", find the folder you need to compress, right-click to open the folder property editing window, select the "Advanced" label. Under the “Compress or Encrypt Attributes” task, select “Compress content to save disk space” and then click “Apply” to display the application attribute confirmation window that pops up and select “Apply to this folder, sub- Folders and files & rdquo; checkbox, then click & ldquo; OK & rdquo; Compare the space before and after the Windows folder is compressed. The space occupied before compression is 1.19GB, and after compression, it is 865MB, which means that after compression, the disk can have 325MB more available space.

Note:

1. Compression compresses disk folders, subfolders, and files, reducing disk space usage, while the total disk capacity is not increased.

2. Disk compression can only compress local disks and their folders and files, and cannot compress mobile disks and folders.

3. Disk compression is at the expense of speed. Generally, compression is not recommended. It is really necessary to compress and compress individual unused folders or files to increase the available disk space.

If you suspect that your hard disk capacity is small, you can use the above method to increase capacity, but you must pay attention to what precautions should be seen clearly, hard disk capacity is not impossible.
