How can I know the version number of Windows 95/98

  

Q: How do I know which version of Windows 95/98 I am using?
A: Right-click on the “My Computer” icon in the desktop and select “Attributes” from the pop-up menu. Menu, the “System Properties” dialog box appears. Under the "General" tab, find the column titled "System"; and you can see numbers like 4.xx.xxx, which is the detailed version number. If it is displayed as 4.00.950, it represents Windows 95 Retail OEM; if it is displayed as 4.00.950A, it represents Windows 95 Service Pack 1 (OSR 1.0) or Windows 95 OEM Service Release 1; if it is displayed as 4.00.950B (or 4.00) .1111), which stands for Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR 2.0); if it is displayed as 4.00.950B (or 4.03.1212-1214), it stands for Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.1 (OSR 2.1); if it is displayed as 4.00. 950C (or 4.03.1214), which stands for Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.5 (OSR 2.5); if it is displayed as 4.10.1998, it means Windows 98 retail or Windows 98 OEM; if it is displayed as 4.10.2222A, it means Windows 98 Second Edition.
