Windows XP Desktop Failure Solution

  


Fault. The volume icon of the system tray does not appear when starting up.
[Fault phenomenon] After each startup of Windows XP SP2, the volume icon is always not displayed in the system tray. Each time you need to enter the control panel's "Sound and Audio Device Properties", you will have selected the "Volume icon in the taskbar"; uncheck and then re-select, the volume icon will appear.
[Troubleshooting] Enter “regedit” in the "Run" dialog box and press Enter to open the Registry Editor, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run, and then the window on the right Right-click on a new string value “Systray”, double-click the key value, edit its value to “c:\\windows\\system32\\Systray.exe”, then restart the computer and let systray.exe be loaded automatically when Windows XP starts. In addition, you can also download the “XP taskbar repair tool” give it a try.
Failure. Desktop disappears
[Fault phenomenon] After starting the Windows operating system, there is no icon on the desktop.
[Fault Analysis] In most cases, the desktop icon cannot be displayed because the explorer.exe cannot be loaded when the system starts, or the explorer.exe file is corrupted by viruses or advertisements, which can cause the desktop to be blank or no icon.
[Troubleshooting] First manually load the explorer.exe file, open the registry editor, and then expand “My Computer\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Micrososft\\WindowsNT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon\\Shell” (Figure 4), if not You can create a new explorer.exe after the shell according to this path (Figure 5). Then copy an explorer.exe file to this machine on another good computer and restart the computer.
