Common methods for recovering WINDOWS failures (4)

Clean up registry startup items

Windows XP starts loading some parameters, including:

on the program menu Startup folder Run line for all users in the registry Run line for specific users in the registry Load items for all users in the registry

The startup folder icon is loaded from two locations Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Startup and Documents and Settings\\user name\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Startup

To delete the value of the Run line for all users in the registry

Click Start , click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Windows value in load

Backup related configuration, in which the startup folder is backed up by the method of copying, and the registry is backed up by the export method to determine the related items that cause the failure, and the correct items are merged and imported into the registry.

Testing User Profiles

Sometimes user-specific information can be corrupted, but other users on the same computer have no problems. To determine if this is the case, log in as a new user, or create a new user account and test the new login. Sometimes, some programs only work when you log in with the default administrator account. This behavior may occur with older programs. If the default administrator profile is corrupted, reinstall Windows to correct this problem. All user-specific configuration information (shown in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER entry) is stored in the tuuser.dat file in the Documents and Settings\\user name folder. If you are using automatic login, please press the shift key at the same time you start, so you can reselect the user.

Also enabled "VGA mode

This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode, using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display refresh rate is increased and cannot be displayed. Note that the safe mode and safe mode with network connection load the Vga.sys driver.
