Three ways to install Windows XP

There are many ways to install Windows XP. There are usually several cases:
1. Upgrade from DOS, now DOS system, install from DOS, and keep the original system.
2. Installation from Win95/98/2000: Now it is Windows 95/98/2000 system, upgrade from the current system, or install a new system to achieve system boot.
3. CD boot installation: The current hard disk has no operating system, boot installation from the CD.

Upgrade from DOS or through the WIN98 boot disk installation
(1) First enter the DOS system, or use the WIN98 boot disk to start the system.
(2) Enter “smartdrv.exe" to start the cache program at the DOS prompt.
(3) Enter the i386 directory under the WinXP installation CD, then at the prompt, press “winnt" and press Enter to start the installation.
Upgrade from WIN95/98/2000
(1) Open the drive where the installation disk is located.
(2) Double-click the setup.exe file to open the installation wizard shown in Figure (1)

(3) Click [install Microsoft WindowsXP] option, pop-up [Windows Setup] dialog box, as shown in ( 2)

The CD is booted and installed. To install from the CD, set the BIOS so that the system can boot from the CD. The method is as follows:
(1) Start the computer. When the Press Del to Enter BIOS Setup message is displayed on the screen, press the Del key on the keyboard to enter the BIOS setting interface of the motherboard.
(2) Select the Advanced BIOS Features option and press Enter to enter the setup program. Select the First Boot Device option and press the Page Up or Page Down keys on your keyboard to set the item to CD-ROM so that you can change the system to CD boot.
(3) Return to the main menu and save the BIOS settings. (Save the method: press F10, then press Y again)
