How to set static IP address in Windows XP system

  

WindowsXP system is still the mainstream system used by users, but the functions and skills of windowsXP system users may not be fully mastered. Here's how to set a static IP address in Windows XP.

Currently, mainstream computers are usually equipped with network cards. By default, they automatically obtain IP addresses. The IP address is automatically requested during system startup, which takes a certain amount of time. If you set a static IP address for the NIC, you will save this time and speed up the startup.

The procedure for setting a static IP address for a network card in a Windows XP (SP2) system is as follows:

Steps/Methods

Step 1, right click on the desktop “Online Neighbors" icon, select the "Properties" command.

Step 2, open the "Network Connections" window, right click on the "Local Area Connection" icon, select the "Properties" command, as shown in Figure 2010040504.

Step 3, in the open & ldquo; Local Area Connection Properties & rdquo; dialog box, double-click & ldquo; This connection uses the following items & rdquo; list The "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" option is shown in Figure 2010040505.

Step 4, open & ldquo; Internet Protocol (TCP /IP) Properties & rdquo; dialog box, select the & ldquo; Use the following IP address & radio button. Then enter a set of IP addresses (such as 192.168.0.1) in the “IP Address” edit box, and enter the subnet mask (such as 255.255.255.0) in the “Subnet Mask” edit box. Keep the rest of the options as they are, click the “OK” button. Return to the “Local Connection Properties” dialog box and click the “OK” button again, and close the “Network Connections” window as shown in Figure 2010040506.
