Windows XP Application Trouble and Solution

I. Help and Support for Fault Highlights
The Help and Support Center components that come with Windows XP are often the most direct way for us to understand the system functions and detect faults. However, when you are looking for an answer to a system component failure and want to find an answer from Windows Help, you find that the life-saving straw is sometimes unreliable. Let's take a look at some of the more common related faults and techniques. Fault 1: The system does not respond when you run the Start → Help and Support menu. Solution: First try to enter the "hepctr -regserver" command in "Start → Run" to register the help component again. If the fault persists, open the C:Windowsinf directory (the directory property is hidden and needs to be set in the Explorer). "Show all files and folders" to access), find the pchealth.inf file, right click on it, select the "Install" command to reinstall the help component, the system will prompt to insert the Windows XP installation disk during the installation process. Fault 2: When you press F1 or use the "Start → Help and Support" menu to access, the system prompts "Could not start the Help and Support Service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specifIEd module could not be found (Help and Support service cannot start up)". Solution: First confirm whether the Help and Support service is enabled by running the "services.msc" command to open the "Services" management window, and in the right window, find the service named "Help and Support", double-click to open, in In the General tab, set the Startup Type to Automatic and the Service Status to Started (Figure 1). It should be noted that this service relies on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service, please confirm that the service is enabled, otherwise the settings will fail. Figure 1 Setting the startup type If the fault persists, run the "SFC /Scannow" command to verify the Windows file protection. If the system file is changed or lost during the verification process, the system will prompt to insert the Windows XP installation disk. And copy the relevant files on the installation disk to the system (Figure 2). If the failure has not been resolved, then from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/winhlp32.exe (Windows XP) or http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/Winhlp32sp1.exe (Windows XP SP1) downloads and installs the help and support components. Figure 2 File Protection Tips Fault 3: After installing SP1, the help file is inaccessible and the win32hlp.exe file cannot be found in the C:\\Windowssystem32 directory. Solution: Insert the Windows XP installation CD, open the I386 directory on the CD, and copy the Winhlp32.cn_, Winhlp32.ex_, Winhlp32.hl_ files to a temporary directory on the hard disk, such as C:help. Next run the "cmd" command to open a command prompt window, go to the C:help directory, and enter the following command: EXPAND WINHLP32.CN_ WINHLP32.CNT EXPAND WINHLP32.EX_ WINHLP32.EXE EXPAND WINHLP32.HL_ WINHLP32.HLP Then Winhlp32. Copy the exe file to the C:Windows directory and copy Winhlp32.hlp to the C:WindowsHelp directory. Finally delete the C:help directory. Fault 4: After opening the Help and Support Center, you cannot expand the next level of help documentation or the link is disordered during the visit. Solution: Run the "Regedit" command to open the Registry Editor, navigate to the "[HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerEnvironment]" branch, find the "windir" key in the right window, and set its value to "REG_EXPAND_SZ". If the fault persists, try removing the C:WindowsPCHEALTHHELPCTRConfigNews ewsver.XML file. Finally, go to http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Patch/Q328940/WXP/CN/Q328940_WXP_SP1_x86_CHS.exe to download the installation and support security patches. Second, help and support skills highlights
1. Alternative access to the Help and Support Center method When you press F1 or use the Start menu to access the Help and Support Center, you can also try the following methods: Windows XP Professinal: Enter hcp: in IE /system/HomePage.htm can open the home page of the Help and Support Center directly. We can also enter the "hh windows.chm" command in "Start → Run", the system will open a simplified version of the Help and Support Center (Figure 3), if the access failure proves that the file management of the Windows chm document is invalid, we can Solve the following method: Run the "Regedit" command to open the registry editor, navigate to the "[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTchm.fileshellopencommand]" branch, change its default value to "C:Windowshh.exe" %1", and then navigate to " [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.chm] branch, change its default value to "chm.file". Windows XP Home Editon: Open the Help and Support Center by entering the "%windir%hh.exe ms-its:%windir%Helpwindows.chm::/Windows.htm" command in Start → Run. Figure 3 Help and support for the simplified version 2. Putting Windows Help files on the "pillows" Windows Help and Support contains a lot of very valuable information, we can save it for backup at any time: open the C:WindowsHelp directory, in the Explorer window Right-click in the blank space and select the “Arrange Mode→Type” command. Then select all the files in CHM format and save them in a copy. Each CHM file corresponds to the help of a certain functional component of the system, such as "Access.chm" corresponding to the auxiliary function option help, "mmc.chm" corresponding to the MMC console help, etc., you can also use the CHM e-book editing tool to perform it. Process to suit your needs. Tip: There are some helpful and support articles on the Microsoft website that can also help you (http://support.microsoft.com/default.ASPx).
